how do I polish uncut semi-precious stones?

We recently nabbed several raw, uncut and unpolished semi-precious stones. I want to polish them myself and get them set into necklaces, but I don't know how.

And you also have to learn how to cut stones, you won't be able to figure it out on your own, it's a delicate art that takes time and a whole lot of patience to learn.
